Thermal Vacuum Evaporator
Overview
Thermal vacuum evaporators use an external source of thermal energy to evaporate water from industrial wastewater and process liquids under reduced pressure. Operating under vacuum lowers the boiling temperature of the liquid, allowing evaporation and concentration to take place at temperatures below atmospheric boiling conditions.
These systems can be particularly suitable where a source of thermal energy is already available within the facility, including applications where process heat or recoverable waste heat can potentially be utilised. The evaporation process separates the incoming liquid into a concentrated residue and a distillate, helping reduce the volume of liquid requiring further treatment or disposal.
Thermal vacuum evaporation can be used for wastewater volume reduction, water recovery and the concentration of process liquids across a range of industrial applications. System selection depends on factors including the characteristics of the liquid, treatment capacity, required concentration and the thermal energy available at the site.
Eurovacuum works with customers to assess the liquid to be treated, daily processing requirement, available energy source and required outcome. From this information, we can help identify the appropriate thermal vacuum evaporator and system configuration for the application.

Technical Features
Vacuum Evaporation Using Thermal Energy
| Title | Content |
|---|---|
| Low Temperature Vacuum Evaporation | Operating under vacuum reduces the boiling temperature of the liquid, enabling evaporation at lower temperatures than atmospheric systems. |
| External Thermal Energy | Uses an external source of thermal energy to drive the evaporation process, making the system suitable where an appropriate heat source is available. |
| Wastewater Volume Reduction | Reduces the volume of liquid requiring further treatment, recovery or disposal by separating water from the process stream. |
| Water Recovery | Produces a distillate that may be suitable for reuse or further treatment, depending on the characteristics of the application. |
Typical Applications:
Thermal vacuum evaporators can be used for industrial processes where wastewater volumes need to be reduced, water recovered or process liquids concentrated. They are particularly relevant where a suitable source of thermal energy is available.
Typical applications include:
- Industrial wastewater treatment – reducing the volume of wastewater requiring disposal or further treatment.
- Metal finishing and surface treatment – concentration of rinse waters and process effluents from cleaning, plating and surface-treatment operations.
- Machining and engineering – treatment of wastewater generated by component washing, degreasing and other manufacturing processes.
- Chemical processing – concentration of suitable process solutions and reduction of liquid waste streams.
- Water recovery – separation of water from process liquids, producing a distillate that may be suitable for reuse or further treatment.
- Resource recovery – concentration of process streams where materials may potentially be recovered from the concentrated residue.
Every wastewater stream is different. Eurovacuum can work with you to assess the liquid composition, daily treatment volume, available thermal energy and required outcome before recommending the most appropriate evaporator configuration.
